How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Adding Extra Security to Your Accounts
Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires a second verification step beyond your password.
What is 2FA?
Even if someone knows your password, they can't log in without the second factor - usually a code from your phone.
Hub Portal 2FA
- Log into your Hostdeal Hub
- Go to account settings
- Look for Security or Two-Factor Authentication
- Follow setup instructions
WordPress 2FA
- Install a 2FA plugin like WP 2FA or Google Authenticator
- Configure the plugin
- Scan QR code with authenticator app
- Save backup codes!
Authenticator Apps
- Google Authenticator
- Authy (recommended - syncs across devices)
- Microsoft Authenticator
- 1Password (built-in)
Backup Codes
Always save your backup codes! If you lose your phone, you'll need them to access your account.
Types of 2FA
- TOTP: Time-based codes (authenticator apps)
- SMS: Text message codes (less secure)
- Email: Code sent to email
- Hardware keys: YubiKey, etc.
